This tip to make a brush into a selection is the idea from Cindy Piper.
I have combined my idea of using the bristle brush with Cindy's downloaded PS brushes.
Here is what has to be done to get the effect.
Open a new canvas. ( For demonstration, I have 300x300 pix - white).
Decorate the base with whatever you like to show through.
With the path drawing tool - rectangle - 2D - any colour
Draw another layer on top and decorate this as well.
You may want to merge all the decorations of this layer as single object.
While still active, reduce the transparency that you can see the image underneath.
Open the Easy Palette - Brush - Paint tool - split1.
Double click on it.
In the top bar, adjust the size (I have mine on 45)- colour black and click on the 'Paint as object' icon.
Now paint your strokes.
Click out of 'paint as object'. (I have animation in mind for this demo)
R/click - convert from image to path.
Click on the path drawing tool - choose selection.
R/click on the selection - convert to object.
In the Layer Manger, move the selected object above all layers.
Repeat as often as you need to see part of the picture underneath.
Don't forget to put the transparency back to zero when your brushes are done.
To make it interesting, try using a mask, PS brushes or objects from the shape Galleries.
Or you can make your own.
Hope you could follow my tut easily and thank you Cindy for allowing me to use your tip for this tutorial.
